The GooneyBirds formed around 1987 somewhere between the band house parties (Greenwood, MN) and Fernando's Bar (15th & East Lake St., Minneapolis, MN). They toured extensively for 10 years playing bars, colleges, and festivals in the Midwest, Colorado area, and many other parts of the U.S (200+ shows/yr) and released both studio & live albums. The Cabooze Bar in Minneapolis has always been home to the band and they performed most every Sunday from 1989 to 1992. Gooney Bucks anyone? In 2003, the band tragically lost their singer Jessica Schwartzbauer and her two children. As a result, they raise awareness & support for the Jessica Scwartzbauer Memorial Foundation as a positive celebration of their lives. Currently, the GooneyBirds perform a few times a year as a way to bring friends and family together for an evening of live music and fun.
